In the Star May 30, Stewart Burnett opines that citizens of Qualicum Beach should be happy with the arguments taking place at the council table.
There is nothing "happy" about fighting a destructive force which threatens the wishes of the majority of citizens. There is a world of difference between "active interest" and "fight for survival."
On May 30, Mr. Burnett reports on the newest attempt on the part of the troublesome trio to further their growth agenda by expanding the urban containment boundary. Naturally this is denied by all three even though residential development such as at Pheasant Glen and Island Timberlands, far removed from the downtown core, will no doubt receive enthusiastic support when/if officially proposed to this council.
Coun. Dave Willie contributes another spiteful jab at the Mayor and is reported elsewhere as implying that there is already urban sprawl in Qualicum Beach and that he is not pleased with it. Ha!
