Clayton Donald Brewer, 37, of Nanaimo has been sentenced to 13 years in prison fin the July 1, 2011 death of Douglas Trebble, 47, of Errington.
Brewer pleaded guilty to manslaughter May 31 in BC Supreme Court in Nanaimo.
Trebble lived alone in the Pine Estates mobile home park on Bowlby Road.
His body was found by a neighbour the July 2.
Investigators found signs there had been an altercation in the home.
Brewer and a woman were arrested in November 2011. The woman was later released without being charged.
"I am very proud of the dedication and work shown by all the officers who worked on this case," St. Sgt. Brian Hunter, Detachment Commander of the Oceanside RCMP, said in a news release. "In a case like this, the support of our partners such as VIIMCU (Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit ) and forensic specialists is key to ensuring a successful outcome, and maintaining the safety of our community."
